Halfords Autocentres Reports 35% Rise

(PRWEB UK) 2 August 2012

With the hottest day of the British summer predicted for Wednesday, Halfords Autocentres has reported a 35% increase in air-con and servicing already in July and predicts this will increase to 200% compared to the same time last year[1].

To help motorists deal with the summer heat this week, Halfords Autocentres is freezing prices by offering 3-for-2 deals on air conditioning and summer car checks until the end of September 2012.

Rory Carlin, marketing director at Halfords Autocentres said: ?The summer is finally upon us and at Halfords we want to make sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable driving experience by preparing themselves and their car. To ensure your air-conditioning is operating effectively, an air-con service is recommended every two years to help make your drive more comfortable and keep you alert and safe on the road.?

Hot temperatures can have an impact on your car too but by taking a few precautions, you can avoid heat-related breakdowns and enjoy your drive:

1. Tyre pressure may increase slightly so make sure to check the pressure before driving as slightly over-inflated tires can become dangerously over-inflated in hot weather

2. Oil lubricates the engine and helps to keep it cool so it is important to check you have enough oil in your car

3. Coolant levels need to be monitored so that the engine does not overheat; if the level is low make sure to add the recommended fluid for your car before you head off

4. Temperature gauge will need to be monitored for signs of overheating; if your car does overheat, pull over for at least half an hour before topping up the radiator

5. he battery can fail in hot weather as heat causes battery fluid to evaporate, which then damages the internal structure of the battery so it is important to check it regularly and also to keep it clean as dirt becomes a conductor, which drains battery power

6. Transmission fluid, power steering fluid and car brakes fluid need to be checked to ensure they are at recommended levels as hot weather can place demand on all of these components too
