@lundwed The public calls these compounds "freon", but they are wrong to do that. Freon, as discussed in this comment section is a specific brand name.
@FlyinBrit Would you mind telling me the atomic number of this element you think is on the periodic table? Freon is a brand name, and is NOT something found on the periodic table.
@FlyinBrit Chlorofluorocarbons are known by the DuPont trade name Freon. TRADE NAME. Trade=Brand. From a dictionary: A trademark/brand name used for a variety of nonflammable gaseous or liquid fluorinated hydrocarbons employed primarily as working fluids in refrigeration and air conditioning and as aerosol propellants.
@planetrob555 I guess, but they put several of these segments in a single hour-long segment and lots of laymen are watching. They could probably make a 3 day seminar out of it explaining convection, conduction, and overall heat transfer coefficients or they could just slap "Freon gas" on a poorly animated compressor knowing that the average person is thinking "Freon. That's the stuff that keeps my other stuff cold." It's not perfect, but look at it like this: It's not Expert Village bad, is it?
@planetrob555 you are wrong!! Freon gas is a type of refrigerant and it is not a brand name! You cant find it on the periodic table of the elements. So get your facts right son.
@planetrob555 Idiot, I didn't say BS over a term, I said bitching over a term. As in you were complaining about a single term and didn't add value in your rant - hence bitching like a girl.
One thing I've seen about many HVAC contractors I've met is that they don't like to share info and keep things secretive in order to protect their jobs. Most of the HVAC people I've met have been douchebags, just like you.
@tonystark19631 I didn't BS over "a" term. I said that this video has several mistakes and is not accurate. Secretive for job security?? I think you've watched too many movies, like Iron Fag.
@planetrob555 Agreed. Over simplified to a point of inaccuracy. It could have been simply stated as a heat pump- taking heat form your house and moving it outside.
Hello community, as an engineer I've been thinking of starting my own page regarding how things work, meant to explain questions people have. I'll try to post regularly, and if people want something explained so it makes sense, send me a request. I'm a mechanical engineer, and love the automotive world.
why has he posted every one of his videos on mars 9th 2007?
ReplyDelete@planetrob555 He did not mention 'Freon gas'...
ReplyDeleteyes this is exactly how air conditioning works- great video!

ReplyDelete@dragonfire836 no thats pretty much whats going on. the temp that the refrigerant evaporates at is just really low
ReplyDeleteI love learning how these things work
