How far apart are the guitar strings tuned? I play violin so I'm used to that, and the violin strings are tuned a 5th apart. I also didn't catch what notes each of the open strings are. Any tips you can give to a violinist who's learning guitar? :)
@ClairissaBee It all depends on where you live and what you want. If you're just starting out, get a used guitar and bring along a friend who knows a few things about guitars especially if you shop at a pawn shop. I'm a fan of the beginner electric packs they sell at Hastings, though I personally bought a used Telecaster & amp at a local music shop that had a good reputation for price and quality.
Okay this is guitar instruction done right. Don't start with chords and sheet music. Start right at the basics, fretting and picking, finger exercises. When you're getting good at fretting and picking, here's a tune you can play to break up the monotony of the exercises. When you've got this totally down square and nailed, move on to the next step. I hadn't picked up a guitar in over a decade and just following this guy is getting me right back into the swing of it.
